Pre-Khmer Buddha in deep Samadhi. Note the world class blue green patina, which is a result of azurite leeching out of the metal over the past 1,000 years. Fabulous face-expressive, sensitive, and powerful. Note his unusual beard. Sits 7" tall (not including the plinth on the bottom), with a total height of 8.25". Originally would have had a separately cast Naga hood and an elaborate base, though both were lost through the millennia. Acquired by the previous owner (in Japan) in the 1970's. He had put together a collection of amazing Khmer bronzes with blue and blue-green patinas as good as any outside a museum. I have owned this for 20+ years and have never seen another like it-even in books. It is a very special piece.
