Large Northern Thai Bronze Buddha. Collected by the previous owner in the 1970's while stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War. Was filled with clay core when he purchased it, and as it was very heavy, he decided to remove it before bring it back to the USA in 1972. I believe this is an 18/19thC emulation of a 15thC style, Earlier example would have been more thickly cast. It appears to have remains of reddish-brown lacquer. Well cast, with typical wear, Impressive at 15.5 inches tall and 11 wide at the base.
