Incredible vintage Tibetan Thangka with remarkable details- different than any other Thangka I have owned. Purchased by the previous owner almost 50 years ago from a gallery in New York, it is likely early to mid 20th century and probably brought to the USA right after being made as it is too clean to have been used for any length of time in Tibet., but has the quality and feel of a piece made for devotional practice. The cloth frame has faded, but is still a beautiful color that complements the the subtly colored image. Take time looking at the intricate imagery- some of it is startling and intense- all of it lively and skillfully painted. Size is 17.5 by 16.25 (inner image) and 39.5 by 28 inches (outer frame)
