14t/15hC Burmese Arakan Buddha in "Jambupati" (royal) style. 7.5" tall. Very hard to find this type. Burmese emulation of Himalayan Buddha, as they were influenced by Chinese and Tibetan Prototypes brought in to Burma through their northern borders. Patina retains most of the original thick black lacquer and some of the original gilding. s this type evolved., they became thinner and taller and the crowns became more and more elaborate. A real collector's piece, as these are much rarer than the later Shan or Mandalay types, and in classic form are even rarer than the rarer Pagan style.
