Rare large vintage/antique Mongolian Applique/Thangka made with many different kinds of antique silk. Would look amazing It is separating a little where the parts meet, but when hanging flat for a while not very noticeable. Could be repaired, though not necessary to enjoy, and is stable the way it is. This thangka is a good size- measures 52" x 31.5", image alone is 20" by 25". Special piece- I've had Mongolian embroideries and appliques of all different types over the past 25 years, but never one that treated the eyes and mouth, and that used this exact technique to piece together the pieces or antique silk. Probably made 50 to 75 years ago during soviet rule, old silk appliques made for practice are getting almost impossible to find now-especially such vibrant and compelling ones such as this.
