Country Group: The Himalayas (Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia and Other)
This 19th Century Mongolian Thangka, preserved within its original copper gau shrine, is a rare and beautifully vibrant example of portable devotional art. The painting, rich in traditional pigments and expressive detail, depicts a dynamic deity seated upon a lotus throne, framed by radiant halos and cloud motifs. Measuring 5.5" tall, the piece retains strong color and character despite its age, with the copper casing adding both protection and historic authenticity. Portable shrines of this type were carried for blessings and protection, making surviving examples increasingly scarce. Domestic shipping included; international shipping $50 with careful packing and full insurance worldwide.
