Item id: 8500

10 to 13thC female Buddhist devotee from the Pagan period. Possibly Mon or Pyu, two other groups that overlapped the early part of the Pagan era. Solid cast in bronze in a very early method (look at the underside with the remnants of the thick solid rod), this piece is extremely large for its type. The only other examples I've seen are a fraction of its size. The smile is classic Pagan. Much of the rest of it is hard to know for sure, and the style and method of construction may have been influenced by Mon, Pyu, or other early Burmese cultures. Warrants further research. RARE. This piece measures 6.25" tall. and heavy for its size. Domestic shipping is included, and international shipping is $50, including packing and insurance to anywhere in the world.
