Country Group: The Himalayas (Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia and Other)
19thC School of Zanazabar Mongolian Bronze Buddha. Re-consecration done in Mongolia sometime in early/mid 20th century. Unsure if ever opened. Cold gilt on face looks original, and mercury gilding almost completely intact. Beautiful design work around base done with precision and care.. At its best, Mongolian casting is some of the most beautiful and distinctive of all Buddhist sculpting, and possible to identify simply by looking into the face. Sits a full 8.5" tall.
