Rare and supremely beautiful 18thC Hanuman cast of a special alloy containing precious metals. Red band around the base. There may have been an original red color that wore off in spots that was replaced over time out of respect so that the reds don't match exactly. The eyes and minute remains of red material remain in the circular designs that cover his body. Red material may have also covered his tail. His eyes (now nearly orange) are as intense as any sculpture I've owned (out of over 10,000). They were likely re-done long ago, but there is something about him that looks alive in a way that few other bronzes I've seen manage to convey. Close to 8 1/2 inches tall not including the new museum-style base. (see newly added photos) It is extremely heavy for his size at almost 55 ounces. An all-time favorite.
