Remarkable Antique Tibetan Jambala. The most fierce example of this deity I have seen. I bought as 18/19thC, but I am unsure of dating- it is so unusual- I have not seen a comparable example, and it does not have significant wear in the usual places, so it may be 20th. Quality of the sculpting and casting is exceptional- from the look of the mongoose, to the detail in the headdress, to the fierce face, the sculptor manages to capture a level of detail not often found on this type of statue. Larger than most statues of this type at 8.25 inches tall by 7.5 inches wide, and quite heavy for its size. A visually striking image that commands attention.
