Country Group:South and Southeast Asia (Thailand, Burma, Laos, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam)
Item id: 8580

Masterpiece 15/16thC Northern Thai "Chen Sen Lao" type, which is a classic Northern Thai style which shows strong Laos influence. This is as fine as they get- with a "Jade Skin" patina-the finest and most desirable type of patina which only develops on certain Buddhas when conditions are right and the alloy used is made of the proper alloy, and only over hundreds of years. It is quite large for its type at 17.5 inches tall and 10.5 inches wide at the base. World class. Eyes originally inlaid. Perfect condition-no damage or repairs. Exquisite finial. Face of supreme equanimity and beauty. One of the best of its type I have seen in 30 years- even in books.
