Item id: 8581

Amazing Antique Buddhist bronze Censor. Extremely heavy at close to 10 pounds. Large at a full 9 inches tall. Shows evidence of ritual use-my guess is early 20th C. Unsure of origin. I've had different opinions- skulls and other iconography look Tibetan. When incense is burned, smoke comes out of top figure's mouth, as well as out of the mouth of the 3 skulls on the sides through holes on the inside (double walled). Amazing expressiveness on all faces and heads-never seen another like it. Note the incredible look on the face of the top head and the multiple skulls and other Buddhist symbols-a real stand-out piece.
