15thC or earlier Japanese Bronze or other alloy Buddha. It is Pre-Edo, but hard to date exactly beyond that, as most of the reference books concentrate on the 13thC and earlier or Edo and later. Note how the figure is literally sinking into the base as gravity and time take their toll. This is a rare and early type rarely found, and when found, it is almost always in wood. Price is quite low for such a lovely and extremely uncommon Buddha with really good age. Stands 8 inches tall.
