Country Group: The Himalayas (Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia and Other)
Fine and rare gilded Tibetan bronze of Padmanabhanagar- was part of the Pan Asian Collection- (a very famous Asian sculpture collection disbursed in the 1980s). It is one of the most expensive pieces I have ever purchased. I bought it as part of a trade with a high-level Swedish collector, who obtained it in the 1980s. At the time he was early in his collecting and did not realize the importance of keeping the "Pan Asian" sticker that originally came on the piece, and he lost it over time. Good size at 7 inches tall not including the newly made museum-style base (see the new photos that show the sculpture on the new base). Richly gilded, the stones appear original. Looks to be the 16th C- possibly a century earlier or later. True world-class piece.
