Very special! 17/18thC Korean bronze Buddha. I've not seen one of this type (especially in this large size) of this breathtaking quality: everything--from the superb and crisp casting, to the masterful and sensitive sculpting, to the perfect dark chocolate patina--make this as fine a Buddha of its type as you will ever encounter. Looks best when placed in a high place--as, like most of this type, he is looking down. He measures 10 inches x 9 inches x 8.5 inches, and is quite heavy. Size is deceiving because he has no base or finial, and because his head and shoulders are tucked in and his body is rounded, the mass of his body is actually that of many Buddhas that sit on bases and that have finials on top of their heads that have heights far greater than this one.
