This is the real thing- a Buddha from the Haripunchai Kingdom of Thailand, which predated modern Thailand, and was contemporary with the great Khmer Empire in Cambodia. Authentic Buddhas from this period (especially complete ones)are extremely rare (95% of those sold on the web are not authentic, even if the sellers believe they are). This one still has traces of original lacquer. These Buddhas tend (as the Khmer Buddhas of the period) to not be as “pretty” as many other Buddhas, but they do have a special power and majesty. He sits just under 4 inches tall. I’ve had him close to 10 years and have never seen another like him .
