Best of my collection, this is of the earliest of all Walking Buddhas- A Superb, Large and Fine 13th/early 14th C Sukhothai Walking Buddha with a rounded body with defined buttocks, short, thick, well-formed limbs leading to elegant yet broad hands, and wide, thick feet. Later, Sukothai's sculpture became more stretched out and overall more remote- this fellow is warm, loving, and completely available. Not inexpensive, but he is rare, large, and in great condition. He is also beautiful, spiritually potent, and a highly sought-after type. Measures 26 1/2 inches tall with the base (base is 2 inches tall x 7 1/2 inches across x 8 inches deep). Without the base 24 inches tall x 7 inches across x 6 inches deep. Perhaps my single favorite out of more than 10,000 owned over 35+ years of collecting. Much rarer than the later SukoThai Buddhas, especially in this size quality and condition. I don’t often use the term, museum, quality, but in this case, it clearly applies..
