Item id: 9013

Early Durga carved out of a hard stone. From an estate collection of mostly 5th to 10th century small Buddhist and Hindu figures. Most were uncommon/unique, and were from the silk road, or from other smaller kingdoms or cultures long lost to the sands of time. I purchased 2 other items from the collection, including item 8989 and 9014. While this one is certainly quite old, it may not be nearly as old as the others and could be as late as 18/thC, it could also be much earlier. As it is carved from stone and out of my area of expertise I cannot date it precisely. Fine, detailed carving done with great finesse. Could use a stand. Measures 3 1/2 inches tall x 2 inches across x 1/2 inch deep.
