Country Group: The Himalayas (Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia and Other)
Finest quality 19th Century Tibetan Standing Bronze Bodhisattva. Casting and sculpting are as good as they get, and the surface is mirror-like smooth. It's the best of its kind. The figure is reattached to the base (you can see on underside where original pins used to be attached). This is not uncommon, as the figure is heavy so as to be supported by the original delicate pins. Underside appears very different (shinier) than the rest of the piece, in part because it would have spend most of its life with a consecrated (sealed) base plate covering the bottom. It stands gracefully at 6.75 inches tall on its attached base. I describe this as "bronze", though it likely has a good deal of silver or other precious metals in it.
