I believe that it is several hundred years old and from China, or from an area that was on a trade-road to China likely during Ming times or possibly earlier. I am not sure on dating. Made of a beautiful colored stone, Traces of coloring as seen in the photos. it currently sits in a high place that faces my front door, and is the first thing that you see as you enter my house. it is larger than life-size and has an extremely powerful presence that fills up any space which it inhabits. I've had a number of Chinese heads over the years, this is perhaps my favorite made of stone. At over 13 inches tall by 8 inches wide at the ears, 17.5 inches on the base(and this Buddha does not have a tall finial on top of its head, so this makes it larger than life and extremely heavy!!
