Large Bronze 10th–11th Century Cambodian Khmer Guardian Figure
Possibly even a century or two earlier, this is a powerful and expressive Khmer-period bronze guardian with tremendous presence. The piece shows considerable age-related wear, clearly visible in the photographs, along with early—or possibly original—repair work to the mid-section and legs, consistent with ancient restoration practices.
The bronze itself measures approximately 17.5 inches tall (19" including the 1.5-inch base) and is impressively heavy at 6.695 kg (14.75 lbs). The casting is unusually animated, with a wonderfully expressive and engaging face that sets it apart from more static Khmer guardian figures. A special and authentically early example—substantial in scale, full of character, and carrying the unmistakable aura of a true Khmer antiquity.
