15/16thC version of Natesa, an 8 armed form of Shiva. As per a very knowledgeable friend and collector, this is a very rare form to find-especially in a Southern Indian bronze of this size from this period. He only knew of one other example in the Nallur temple in Tamil Nadu. He described it as  "Details are amazing, but more in Chola style.", even though he believed it was a Tamil sculpture. Losses and damage to the base as seen in the photos. the loops and circles are evidence that this piece was likely carried in parades. the two metal prongs sticking up suggests it had a back/overhead plate at one time.  A very special offering. - H: 40" ( 101.6cm)
