This is a Post-Pagan Buddha from the 14th or 15th century. It is from a period in which not many Buddhas were produced. It has echoes of the Pagan smile, as well as some Pagan features in the distinctive shape of the head. the face also shows elements of the soon to come Shan style that will emerge soon. In very good condition, with no damage. The base retains elements from the earlier Pala style from next door India . The casting is generally not refined on Buddhas of this type. solid cast and very heavy for its size. retains an untouched dark chocolate Brown patina. H 5.25" (13.335cm)
