18/19thC larger than Life Thai bronze Buddha head. this near monumental Buddha head is in remarkably good condition, with what appears to be the original eyes and 90-plus percent of the original lacquer. some of the original gilding remains, as can be seen in the photos. note that the finial on the top of the head is an inexpensive resin replacement. normally I do not leave things like this on sculptures that I purchase and then offer for sale, but this one matched so incredibly close, and looked so good that I decided to leave it and let the buyer decide whether they wanted to use it or not. I've never seen an inexpensive modern replacement finial that looked so convincing. It is extremely heavy-The Originals sculpture must have stood 7 feet tall or taller in a temple setting. it is the largest of its type I've ever been able to acquire.
