Powerful Image! It appears as if all of the details are carved into a thick piece of wood rather than being built up with gesso or any kind of other substance (I think). This was done with great skill and to great effect. It was then painted with both regular and metallic paints to give it a unique visual effect. I am guessing it is 50 to 75 years old. I have never come across another that anything like it. Quite heavy for a hanging piece. 27.75"x 36
