This Buddha has a classic face and body shape related to The Great Kamakura Buddha, which was completed in 1252, and it had an impact on the style of Buddhas being sculpted in Japan for hundreds of years to follow.
When I first looked at this Buddha I thought it was an eighteenth-century emulation of an earlier style. The more I researched it, the more I began to believe it actually was much earlier, and that it was actually a period piece or from the centuries that directly followed. I've been unable to find comparable examples.
I believe that it may have been cleaned at some point and that it may have been darker at one time. It has a very distinctive head shape that was a signature feature of the Kamakura Buddha. (12\" H X 8\"W)
