This is a fierce Buddhist deity cast in solid iron, likely from the Dali Kingdom (10th–13th century) in southern China, and possibly early Tibetan. The figure has a powerful, commanding presence with an ancient, deeply textured iron patina that has naturally developed over centuries. Standing 10 inches tall (4.5" wide x 3.5" deep), it is heavy and substantial.
The deity is shown nude except for a dramatic garland of human heads and a serpent coiled around his neck. He holds a skull filled with brains in his left hand, and wears an unusual three-pronged headpiece—possibly representing nagas. One hand is missing, but overall condition is good, as seen in photos. He remains securely mounted on an older plexiglass stand. A rare and striking early example with strong presence.
