18/19ththC Japanese solid core ceramic Buddha emulating a cloisonne metal Buddha. Quite rare type much more difficult to make than the type it is emulating. At a distance it looks like it is a cloisonne Buddha made of copper, but when you get closer to it, or pick it up, you realize that it is made of some sort of ceramic material that is extremely heavy. The colored bits are embedded into the ceramic, and the entire thing is fired in a way that allows it (with no hollow core)to have no cracks or bubbles in it of any kind.
The thumbs look like they have broken more than once, it is possible that they could get damaged again in shipping, though we will pack them extremely extremely carefully to reduce the chances of this happening.
Other than this, the piece is near perfect
