11th/12thC. Southern Thai Buddha--completely different from the rest of Thailand or SE Asia as it was on a narrow piece of land with the Bay of Bengal on one side and the Sea of China on the other, and Maylasia Below. Solid cast. Far rarer than its Khmer counterparts. Sits about 4 1/4 inches tall. From a 3-generation collection of SE Asian bronzes. (I paid close to twice the starting price for it when I purchased it for my personal collection more than 25 years ago).Special piece.
