Country Group: The Himalayas (Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia and Other)
18/19th C. Mongolian BronzeElephant W. Wheel of the Law Altarpiece- a gilded elephant with a wheel of the law on his back (May have been part of an altar set of the 8 auspicious symbols). Stands a bit over 5 inches tall. Appears to be consecrated. Casting and gilding are different than the usual Tibetan types. In the 30+ years I've owned him I've not seen another like him.
