This Mongolian antique appliqué thangka is a rare devotional textile created from old silk fragments, each color cut from a differently woven cloth—an art form increasingly difficult to find today. Likely early to mid-20th century, yet incorporating much older silk, it depicts a fierce protective deity in bold, expressive applique work. The thangka measures 15 × 22.5 inches, with the central image at 9 × 12 inches. As expected for an authentic devotional textile, it shows wear, including a seam needing repair across the lower section. A striking, character-rich piece for collectors of Mongolian sacred art.
