Early Chinese or Tibetan guardian figure, difficult to date due to its highly unusual form, though the casting and overall character suggest at least 15th Century—and possibly much earlier. This delightful figure is full of personality, standing proudly at 6.5 inches tall (8.5 inches on its custom base).

A wonderfully detailed bird spreads its wings protectively over the guardian’s head, adding both charm and symbolic power. His face is more endearing and humorous than frightening, giving the sculpture a uniquely engaging presence. The surface and form appear genuinely ancient, consistent with Ming-period work or earlier.

Dimensions: 6.5"" H (8.5"" with base), 1.75"" W, 2"" D.
A rare and character-filled early guardian figure with great visual appeal.
