15/16th-century Korean bronze Buddha/bodhisattva. Superb face radiates Joy, loving-kindness, and a deep sense of equanimity.
I've had a few standing bronzes of this type from this time period in Korea that had many features in common with this piece. The most significant is that the face is done to a very high level in a different metal than the rest of the statue, including the rest of the head. The details on the body are not as refined as the face, but they are completely successful at creating an overall stunningly beautiful figure. The body arches back in an interesting way.
