Country Group: The Himalayas (Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia and Other)
This is a very large vintage Nepalese bronze Buddha from the estate of a merchant marine who traveled the world in the 1930’s and 40’s. It is an impressive 21 inches tall by 16 inches wide at the knees. It is in excellent condition. There is one small piece of the base missing in the back.. Lovely casting, sculpting, and overall feel, and finished in the traditional method. The Buddha and the base are cast separately and then connected. Quite different than the contemporary pieces.
