Exquisite Pair of Indonesian / Javanese Bronze Deities (Conservatively Dated 15th–19th Century). This beautiful pair of antique Indonesian or Javanese bronze deities displays exceptional charm, quality, and refinement. The previous owner firmly believed the figures dated to the 15th century and originally sat together on a single shared base into which both were inset. While the sculptures clearly possess significant age, their precise dating is difficult to determine with certainty, so I have chosen a conservative attribution of 15th to 19th century.
The craftsmanship is superb. Each figure is finely cast with elegant proportions and expressive features. The taller deity measures 5⅛ inches in height (and 7.25 inches on its custom stand), while the female figure is slightly smaller with beautifully delicate facial modeling and softer contours. Their stylistic harmony strongly suggests they were conceived as a paired ensemble. The bronzes display graceful postures, serene expressions, and a warm, naturally developed surface—hallmarks of well-preserved Southeast Asian devotional sculpture.
A rare and captivating pair, notable both for their aesthetic beauty and their complementary presence.
