15th/16th Century (or earlier) Standing Bronze Burmese Arakan Buddha — a rare Royal Arakan type. In all my years of collecting, this may be the first example of this specific type I have been able to acquire. The figure shows strong influence from the earlier Pagan era, with distinctive Mon or late Pyu features: expressive eyes, a gentle, childlike face, and a beautifully proportioned stance.

The piece carries a powerful, ancient patina. Some areas were partially cleaned in the past to reveal the fine detailing beneath, and based on other bronzes I have owned, additional careful cleaning may be possible—though not guaranteed. The overall presence is exceptional, and the sculpture has real character and individuality.

Height is shown in the accompanying photo with a ruler. Weight: 5.45 lbs (2.470 kg). A rare and important Arakan-period bronze.
