Country Group: South and Southeast Asia (Thailand, Burma, Laos, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam)
This is a rare late Pagan/Pinya bronze Burmese Buddha from the 13th or 14th centuries. The base is highly unusual and complex and appears to have originally had an additional figure or figures attached to it. There is expectable surface wear, some losses, and some original casting flaws. The face is wonderful-serene, joy-filled, and very much alive. I've had him quite a long time, and have one other like him- the just listed item #7421. Like him. He sits 6 inches tall and weighs 32.8 ounces.
