Larger than life early Chinese wood Buddha head. Original statue would have been monumental. Face is slightly exaggerated in part because it was sculpted to be viewed from below as people sat on the floor and the figure was so tall. Head alone measures 18 1/2 inches tall x 8 inches across x 8 inches deep. Strongly weathered. Looks to be extremely old, I think Ming or earlier, though I'm not an expert on dating this type and have not shown it around yet. ( 8.18lbs / 3.710kg )
