This is an old and extremely large Thai terracotta Buddha plaque. It was collected 35 years ago by a man who was living in SE Asia and who worked for Air America (i.e. the CIA). I recently bought a large part of his estate, which included several early rain drums, many bronze statues, early ceramics, and several other wonderful items. My guess on age is 18/19thC, although the style is earlier, so the piece may be older. There was an old break at the neck which was repaired, and expected surface wear and darkening. It is one of the largest plaques of this type I have encountered. The collection had two of these plaques in it, which were almost surely collected together. It is a full 7.25 inches tall by 5.5 inches wide by over an inch thick at the thickest.
