Pre-10th century Korean Buddha/Bodhisattva, originally fully covered in high-karat gilding (traces remain). The figure has a simple, serene, and beautifully composed face. The head appears to have been cast separately and then joined to the body—typical for early solid-cast Korean Buddhas. A very special early piece with strong presence.
