Very rare 16/17thC Bird-form crystal reliquary. Bird is 2 7/8 inches tall, 3 1/2 inches long, and 2 1/2 inches wide. The height on its custom stand is 4 3/8 inches. 345g. Excavated in North Thailand in the Hod district in the 1960s when a reservoir was going in and ancient temple ruins were being flooded. Originally would have had a gold top. Museum piece. Heavy. Carved with early tools From a world-class multi-generation collection of Thai antique Buddhist quartz crystal. The collection had to be partly sold off in the late 1990s due to the financial slowdown. I bought several-this is one of two I still have in my collection. 345g
