Country Group: The Himalayas (Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia and Other)

Item id: 9814

This antique Mongolian woodblock thangka, measuring 13" x 22" to the bottom of the original fringe, is a rare survivor of traditional devotional printing on fabric. The finely rendered linework—still clearly visible despite centuries of wear—depicts a seated deity surrounded by intricate iconography. The silk has aged beautifully, with natural patina, water marks, and frayed lower edges that speak to its long ritual life. Hung from its simple wooden rod, the piece retains the quiet dignity of an authentic temple artifact. A striking and atmospheric addition for collectors of early Himalayan and Mongolian sacred art.
