This is a the largest Buddha I currently have for sale. It is a circa 1850 to 1875 Thai Rattanakosin style standing Buddha in Royal Attire. It is on a simple black metal base which is about 10 by 10 by 10. It is all or mostly all bronze- the detailed ornamentation on the chest and head is separately cast and may be a different alloy. It has some loss and repairs, including the reattachment of one hand. The top of the head is separately cast (and is extremely heavy)- it does not fit exactly . It is covered with a gold colored polychrome of some sort- not true gilding, as it would cost a fortune to use actual gold on a statue of this great size. It was touched up with gold paint in modern times. During Rattanakosin period the Buddhas became more and more elaborate in their dress and ornamentation, but the faces became more and more simple. This accounts for his wonderful childlike face juxtaposed with his incredibly complex ornamentation. He is extremely large at over 49 inches, and over 57 inches including the base. He will need to have a professionally built crate for him and be sent by a trucking company rather than by mail. I will cover all packing and shipping costs. Almost impossible to find an authentic 19th C bronze Buddha of this size delivered to your door for this price! Discount offered for a pickup.
