18/19th century Nepalese Bronze Tara Figure-. Rare and very striking because of how it was (unintentionally) cast. It appears that the mold failed during the casting process and that rather than getting a thin layer of metal creating the shape of the figure, the entire space where the mold had been was filled in with metal. Additional metal flowed into the space where the mold opened and closed and you can see the extra metal around the sides of the statue. I'm sure that if they tried to repeat the process to get another statue like this they could never do so even if they tried 100 times.

Rather than ruining the statue, the casting process turned the statue into something completely unique and special. When you pick it up in your hands it has a remarkable feeling of powerful energy. It is extremely heavy and rounded and it cradles in your hands in a natural way. The face is very beautiful and the casting shows nicely, even though it is not the way it was intended to go. The best thing is to look at the photos and spend time with them to get a feeling of what this sculpture is like. ( 5"H x 2.5"W x 2.5"D ) - 2.69lbs / 1.22kg
