Remarkable miniature bronze Fierce Hindu or Buddhist Protective Deity which is made of a special alloy that includes precious metals. The quality of the casting is remarkable. As per the previous owner, it is 15th century and is from Java. When you look closely at the macro pictures, You see the remains of the cloth used in the casting process that was later gilded. It has left a design all over the surface of the figure as it has worn away. The subtlety and nuanced feeling is remarkable. I purchased it from the same collector as item number 9578 on my website. Both items were unearthed with many others when the local govt did some excavation in preparation for building a shopping center in central Java.
It is extremely heavy for its size as it is solid cast. It could be worn, though I don't know how the surface would change with contact with skin over time. I feel it is too important a piece to wear myself, though others might wear it carefully and find this to be a great experience ( .75"H x .625"W x .625"D ) - 15g
